He is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, where he earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana and Texas. In February 2021, Brammer purchased Echometer well analysis equipment; Jim has managed that equipment and performed all field tests for Brammer. The field tests have included fluid level shots to determine static and producing bottom hole pressures in both rod pumping and gas wells, dual shots to verify holes in tubing, tracking plungers, and running dynamometer tests. He provides well analysis reports and recommendations for every tested well. Jim has managed production operations for oil and gas wells in North Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Kansas, with an emphasis on oil production using beam pumps and electrical submersible pumps. Jim commonly uses RODSTAR for sucker rod and downhole pump design and troubleshooting, and has a working knowledge of plunger lift, gas lift, and progressive cavity pumps. He also writes procedures and associated AFE's for various types of well work. Jim is active with the SPE Lou-Ark Section and has been an officer for 11 years.
